Our Story

GRolls® stands as a pioneer in comminution technology with our groundbreaking Gyratory Rolls Crusher (GRolls®). Operating seamlessly in both dry and wet conditions, GRolls® introduces a unique combination of gyratory and compression motion, revolutionising particle breakage mechanisms for unparalleled efficiency. Our commitment to innovation is showcased through rigorous laboratory testing at Adelaide University facilities in preparation for design and manufacture of an upscaled unit for pilot scale testing, affirming our dedication to refining and validating our cutting-edge comminution technology.

Revolutionising Comminution

Founded by passionate South Australians, GRolls® is on a mission to commercialise its advanced comminution solutions developed in the heart of South Australia. GRolls® was invented by Chris Kelsey who, from over 60 years experience, saw an application in the mining industry for dry energy efficient crushing technologies to be extended into grinding applications. His previous South Australian inventions include the Kelsey Jig, Super Fine Crusher and Planar Magnetic Separator. Chris in 2012 was awarded AusIMM’s Mineral Industry Technique Award and in 2019 was awarded Engineering Technologist of the year by Engineers Australia.

From Concept to Commercialisation

CBSM Mining Services Pty Ltd was founded to progress GRolls® crushing technology, building the laboratory scale Alpha GRolls®400 unit to prove the concept and achieving Australian and international patents. In 2023 CBSM joined with Innovyz, another entrepreneurial South Australian company, forming Gyratory Roller Solutions Pty Ltd to complete the commercialisation of the innovative comminution technology.

Testing Today, Scaling Tomorrow

The laboratory scale GRolls®400 has been located at Adelaide University research facilities since 2023, undertaking multi-commodity trials from many industry partners exploring the performance of the GRolls® in PhD studies by one of CBSM’s founders Mark Drechsler. The lab unit is also supporting other research programs seeking size reduction of materials as part of university minerals processing research studies. Beyond innovation, our focus is on maximising local impact by anchoring technical development, manufacturing, assembling, and after-sales support in Australia. Join us in reshaping the landscape of mining and construction industries with GRolls®, where excellence meets sustainability in comminution.
